GAMBAR bertarikh 27 Februari 2005 menunjukkan bangunan reaktor nuklear Bushehr milik Iran.

WASHINGTON - Dokumen sulit Amerika Syarikat (AS) yang didedahkan dalam laman web WikiLeaks di Internet kelmarin mendedahkan bahawa pemerintah Arab Saudi, Raja Abdullah meminta AS menyerang Iran.

Tujuan serangan itu diminta adalah untuk menghalang program nuklear Iran.

Maklumat itu didedahkan menerusi penghantaran maklumat menerusi kabel melalui kedutaan AS.

Ia turut mendedahkan bahawa AS, Israel dan negara-negara Arab mengesyaki bahawa Iran semakin hampir untuk mengeluarkan senjata nuklear.

Raja Arab Saudi berulang kali menggesa AS untuk menyerang Iran bagi menamatkan program senjata nuklearnya.

"Baginda (Raja Abdullah) memberitahu anda (pegawai-pegawai AS) untuk memotong kepala ular," kata Duta Arab Saudi ke Washington, Adel al-Jubeir.

Maklumat itu didedahkan berdasarkan satu laporan berhubung mesyuarat antara Raja Abdullah dengan pegawai tinggi tentera AS, Jeneral David Petraeus pada April 2008.

Maklumat itu turut mendedahkan bahawa:

* Pegawai-pegawai di Jordan dan Bahrain meminta secara terbuka supaya program nuklear Iran dihentikan dengan menggunakan pelbagai pendekatan termasuk ketenteraan.

* Pemimpin-pemimpin di Arab Saudi, Emiriyah Arab Bersatu (UAE) dan Mesir merujuk Iran sebagai jahat, satu ancaman yang wujud dan satu kuasa yang akan menyebabkan negara tersebut berperang.

* Setiausaha Pertahanan AS, Robert Gates memberi amaran pada Februari lalu bahawa jika usaha-usaha diplomatik gagal risiko perkembangan senjata nuklear di Asia Barat akan berlaku menyebabkan perang berlaku menerusi satu serangan Israel.

* Ketua Perisikan tentera Israel, Mejar Jeneral Amos Yadlin memberi amaran pada tahun lalu bahawa: "Israel tidak berada dalam satu kedudukan untuk silap penilaian ke atas Iran dan menjadi terkejut seperti AS mengenai serangan 11 September 2001."

Ketika ditanya mengenai kenyataan itu, jurucakap Jabatan Negara AS, PJ Crowley semalam menyatakan bahawa dasar AS adalah tidak memberi komen berhubung bahan-bahan itu.

Iran beulang kali menyatakan bahawa program nuklearnya adalah untuk membekalkan tenaga dan bukan mengeluarkan senjata nuklear. - Agensi-Kosmo
